Serpentine Style:  The first petroglyphs carved into the rock at Lewis Canyon were of familiar images like bear tracks, human figures, and atlatls.  These are called the Serpentine Style.

Deer petroglyph at Lewis Canyon.  Study this glyph carefully and you will be able to see the antlers on his head.

Abstract Style:  These images have geometric shapes.  They are abstract, because we cannot be sure what they represent.  Some archeologists think these petroglyphs may be a map of the heavens, or a star chart.
